Community Workshops We run mixed and women-only group sessions in South London, Plymouth and occasionally beyond, for individuals with lived experience of all kinds to make connections and explore the strengths and skills such challenges can bring. All our workshops are creative, interactive, supportive and unique. Current community workshops are part of the Messages from the HeART exhibition project. Dates and details are here In our workshops we seek to create a safe, empathetic space to facilitate improved mental and emotional wellbeing. By illustrating the remarkable capacity of the human spirit to triumph over adversity, we help participants to reach beyond perceived limitations, to make compassionate connections (including within themselves), to have a voice and take part in gentle activism, and to nurture positive change on their own terms. Training for Organisations, Educators and Service Providers Hope in the Heart is collaborating with experts in the fields of mental health, higher education and social care to provide training that inspires a more compassionate and fulfilling way of relating and working in areas including public services, businesses and third sector organisations. Relational Practice - Prioritising relationships over systems: While those of us who are or have been service-users may have encountered some excellent supportive services, we can often feel that providers do not relate to us as human-to-human, in a spirt of compassion and equity. Relational Practice has been shown to create greater efficiency and fulfilment in the workplace, leading to happier staff and service-users, with improved outcomes and productivity for all. Lived Experience Exhibitions and Events Our most exciting and impactful community project so far -Messages from the HeART: Free exhibitions, events and workshops featuring artworks, performances and stories by people with many kinds of lived experience, each telling part of their story with a message for service providers, decision-makers and others who have the power to affect positive change.
Social Action We challenge division and discrimination and celebrate humanity’s rich diversity, common challenges, values and virtues. We encourage co-production and reconciliation between service providers and experts by experience, and gentle activism to empower individuals and improve our ailing world.
