To accommodate the challenges we are all experiencing due to the escalating coronavirus situation, Ageing Gloriously! has become an online project. A solution-focused Facebook group and free one-hour online workshops on Thursday and Sunday afternoons are continuing to bring women together while they are apart. Sorry but you have to provide your own cake! :( Please join the Facebook group or contact [email protected] if you would like to take part.
Women over 50, in Plymouth and London, are invited to join Hope in the Heart's Tam Martin Fowles in a celebration of the Older Woman. We will: - Share stories, life experiences - and cake! - Challenge stereotypes - Recognise the joys and potentials of ageing - Identify and celebrate the virtues that accompany later life (ie compassion, courage, resilience, empathy, wisdom) - Explore strengths and gifts that have resulted from the challenges we have faced - Appreciate the power we, as older women, hold to compassionately transform our own lives, communities and world - Connect joyfully and empathetically with other older women around the world
Ageing Gloriously! workshops (funded by Lottery Communities Fund) will take place in Plymouth and London, bringing together diverse groups of women aged 48 and over to explore and celebrate what it means to be an "Older Woman" and happily challenge stereotypes associated with the status. It is not essential to attend all workshops.
Participants will be encouraged, via small and larger group discussions, shared stories and creative activities, to share insights and experience, inspire and be inspired by each other, and develop an ongoing practice of compassion, towards themselves and others. The women will acknowledge and celebrate the strength, wisdom and other virtues they have amassed through their lives, and particularly through their challenges, recognising themselves as survivors and wise elders. They will connect with other glorious older women in different parts of the world to highlight the common humanity, wisdom and spirit that exist in women globally.
Plymouth workshops will take place at Devonport Guildhall, on the following Thursdays from 10am to 2.30pm (and an additional Friday, 10am - 1pm).
